Each year, the Miss Oregon Volunteer Pageant proudly selects a runner-up to represent the state at the esteemed National Sweetheart Pageant. This tradition offers an exciting opportunity for Oregon’s rising contestants to showcase their talent, interview, service, and leadership on a national stage. Founded in 1941 and held annually in Hoopeston, Illinois, the National Sweetheart Pageant brings together exceptional young women from across the country, all of whom have placed highly in their own state competitions. By participating, she continues her pageant journey, gaining valuable experience, lifelong friendships, and the chance to further her commitment to community service and personal growth.

Congratulations to 2nd Runner-Up and our new 2026 Oregon Sweetheart - Erika Akers

Erika Akers is a 19-year-old freshman at Southwestern Oregon Community College, located in Coos Bay, where she is pursuing her education. She has proudly called Coos Bay, Oregon home for the past 11 years. She was originally born in Thailand and moved to the United States at the age of five. Her international background has shaped her into a compassionate, open-minded, and driven young woman.

Erika discovered her love for dance at just two years old, and it has remained a central part of her life ever since. Through years of dedication and performance, dance has taught her discipline and the power of self-expression. She aspires to one day become an NFL cheerleader, combining her passion for dance and her love for performing. In addition to her commitment to dance, Erika is deeply involved in pageantry, where she finds joy in personal growth, sisterhood, and community involvement. Pageants have helped her develop poise, strong communication skills, and a heart for service that extends far beyond the stage.

Living along the beautiful Oregon coast, she enjoys spending time at the beach. Travel is one of her greatest passions, and she dreams of visiting as many countries as possible in her lifetime. Having already explored seven different countries and lived in three of them, Erika is proud of her diverse background and strives to use her global experiences to connect with others.
