How are the competitions judged?
Each contestant in the Miss Oregon Volunteer and Miss Oregon Teen Volunteer competitions will be judged in four areas of competition: Interview (25%), Evening Gown (25%) Talent (25%), and Fitness (33%).  Fitness is judged in swimsuit for the Miss contestants and activewear for the Teen contestants.  Contestants in the Spirit of Oregon competitions will be judged in three areas of competition:   Interview (33%, Formal Wear (33%), Active Wear (33%); and a top finalists question.  Overall, judges want to see authenticity, the willingness to grow, the spark that shows she is confident in both her inner and outer beauty.  No matter the age division, what stands out most is a contestants heart, her character, her relatability, and her potential to make a difference.

Are you only looking for perfect 10’s?
Not at all!  We are looking for real, young women and girls who are authentic, passionate, and willing to grow.  No one is perfect, and that's the beauty of it.  What makes someone stand out isn't a number, it's their character, their drive to serve, and the way they use their voice to make a difference. This program is about giving girls and young women the tools to discover their strengths, embrace who they are, and make an impact in their communities.  We want every contestant to shine in their best light!

Do I have to have experience in order to enter?
Not at all, in fact most of our contestants are newcomers. Team Oregon is here to help you be prepared and ready for the pageant weekend.

I really want to be a part of the pageant competition, but I am not sure I can afford it. Is there anything I can do?
Finding sponsorships is a way to offset your personal costs to participate, including the entry fee.  We suggest starting with a list of potential sponsors such as friends and family members and their employers, etc. Gaining sponsorship will be discussed at contestant orientation and strategies will be included in your contestant handbook, upon registration.

Do I have to spend a lot on outfits?
Not at all! You do not need to spend a fortune on outfits for each phase of competition. It is most important to find outfits that you will feel confident in and that best suit you and your personality. You may, in fact, already have these items in your closet!  But it is not the clothing that the judges are scoring; it’s the girl or young women wearing it. Several contestants in the past have been able to secure a gown sponsor to assist them, and many have borrowed clothing from friends, former contestants, etc.

What happens if I can’t get my registration materials in before the deadline?
Deadlines are very important to us in order to make timely program preparations. If you are not registered before the registration deadline, you will have to wait to compete at the next pageant the following year.

Do I need to pay for a hotel room during the event weekend?
Although it’s not mandatory we do recommend you stay at the Host Hotel. Due to early rehearsals your days will be long, and it may be more convenient for contestants to walk up to their hotel room versus driving somewhere else.

Will I have time to visit with my family, friends and out-of-town guests, during the pageant weekend?
From the time you check in to the pageant the contestants will have a packed schedule of activities, interviews, rehearsals and shows.  Time permitting, Team Oregon makes every effort to include designated family meet and greet opportunities.

If my family or friends want to attend, where do they stay?
Friends and Family rates are available at the Host Hotel. Reservations should be made from the pageant website.

How do my family and friends get tickets to the pageant?
Ticket information and sales will be listed on our website once they have been set.

What should my family and friends wear to the pageant?
The Miss Oregon Volunteer, Miss Oregon Teen Volunteer, and the Spirit of Oregon Pageants will all be a must-see on the Eugene calendar of events and so, we invite you to dress to impress!  We recommend anything from business to cocktail to formal wear.
